Open DoorSome years ago Isabel Sarle ran the TRAIDCRAFT STALL along with help from Dr Peggy Martin and Mrs Bess McCluckie from St James Church.

Isabel, Peggy and Bess decided they would still like to meet on a Friday even after Isabel had handed Traidcraft over the Margaret Thomson.  At the time I was Church Secretary and joined them after I’d finished in the office.  Eventually I agave up as secretary and joined Isabel and friends.  Isabel showed me how to do Cross Stitch and we all made Gift Cards and Greeting Cards for Church Sales.

Fiona Scott came in one day with a notice she had picked up in a shop "TEDDIES FOR TRAGEDIES" so we changed from sewing needles to knitting needles.  Members of the Congregation helped and Bess was brilliant at "sewing-up" and doing the faces.

Ron Smith took lunchtime Prayers and we all went to the Resource Room for about 20 minutes.  We still do Lunchtime Prayers and it is a lovely way of remembering our friends and those in need and asking God to take care of us all and our Church.

For the last 2 - 3 years there has been eight "regulars" plus a few casuals.  Sadly Bess (who is now 98) has not been well but we are hoping to welcome her back very soon.  We don’t do much knitting or sewing now but we do have a good "blether" and a real good cup of tea (or two).  And the kitchen makes lovely soup etc.

We are always happy to see people even if they are just passing through.  I don’t remember when we started to be called "OPEN DOOR" but if anyone wishes to join us they are very welcome.  We meet in the lounge on a Friday from 12.00 till 3pm, but feel free to come when you can.
