A choir has led worship in Falkirk Old since the 1890s. Throughout this time the choir and the organists have adapted to many changes in repertoire to absorb the changing styles of worship often brought about by the publication of new hymn books.
The present choir continues the reputation for being friendly and welcoming, and new members are always greeted warmly. Membership of the choir is open to all who like singing. There are no auditions and it is not necessary to be able to read music, although this can be a very useful skill for all choir members.
The choir meets at 10.45 in the St Modan’s Hall before every Sunday service to rehearse any new hymns or special choral pieces for use in the service.
During the year the choir joins with other choirs from FCT to rehearse music for Christmas, Easter and Pentecost. There are up to 4 evening practices and there is usually a short tea break during which the singers get to know their colleagues from the other churches.
The choir is an important part in the worship Sunday by Sunday and also plays an important role in introducing new hymns to the congregation.
You are invited to join and share your talent for singing in a very worthwhile organisation in the church.
